LUCAS OVERBY ATTENDED CITIZEN-LOBBYIST WORKSHOP

LUCAS OVERBY ATTTENDED A CITIZEN-LOBBYIST WORKSHOP - Out of the three announced candidates for U.S. Congress, House District 13, Lucas Overby was the one in attendance at the Citizen-Lobbyist Luncheon held at the Columbia Restaurant this past Tuesday.  All three announced candidates had been invited by Citizen Voice Project, the organizer of the workshop. The office of Republican incumbent C.W. Bill Young had responded that the Congressman could not attend because he was in Washington.

This educational workshop, “Empowering Our Communities with Citizen Lobbyists,” was offered to all of those in the community wanting to “learn more about how to be effective communicators with their elected representatives.”  Citizen Voice Project (CVP) is a non-partisan educational consulting group with the goals of equipping citizens with the tools to engage their neighborhoods and communities on the issues that they wish to have addressed by both their elected representatives and potential candidates for office.  For those wanting information about future workshops and webinars presented by the CVP, please go to their facebook page and “Like”  in order receive information on future events:  https://www.facebook.com/CitizenVoiceProject

Lucas Overby and the other two candidates for House District 13 had been invited to come and say a few words at the end of the workshop.  Lucas Overby chose not to deliver what he called “a standard campaign stump speech.”  Instead, Mr. Overby expressed his eagerness to be at the workshop because of his many years of extensive involvement in political affairs as a concerned citizen who has frequently lobbied office-holders as a volunteer citizen-lobbyist.  He shared his personal experience of engaging his neighbors in conversation to ascertain the particular issues that really disturbed them, and then bringing their common concerns to the appropriate government officials. With the advent of social media, and now his campaign as Libertarian Candidate for U.S. House District 13, Mr. Overby reported that he spends some time each day on Facebook and Twitter, and personally responds to questions posted on his Lucas Overby for Congress Facebook Page.
