Losing Lotto Tickets Are Actually Winners For Two Largo Women

Lorraine Dellefratte and Debra Mcintosh were two of 15 winners in the Florida Lottery's Second Chance drawing for non-winning scratch-off tickets.

Non-winning scratch-off tickets are normally about as useful as confetti.

But for a number of Floridians, their losing tickets are being turned into instant winners, thanks to a new promotion being conducted by the Florida Lottery.

Under the lotto's Viva Florida 500 Second Chance Promotion, 15 lucky non-winners of Florida Treasure Hunt scratch-offs were chosen this week as recipients of prizes including a new SUV, vacation getaways and $500 in cash.

According to the Florida Lottery, Lorraine Dellefratte of Largo was selected as a second-prize winner in the drawing, and Debra Mcintosh was a third-prize winner.

The four second-prize winners receive a Florida getaway package that includes three night accommodations for two, $500 spending allowance and “specified meals and/or activities.” The 10 third-prize winners receive $500 in cash.

The grand prize winner, a woman from Fort Pierce, won a 2013 Mazda CX-5.

The Florida Lottery will hold two more second chance drawings, on Mar. 6 and April 2013. According to the Florida Lottery, players may continue to enter non-winning Florida Treasure Hunt scratch-off tickets on the Lottery’s website until midnight on the night before each drawing to be included in the drawing.
