MARLENE ROSE – SCULPTURES UNVEILED AT THE
OPENING OF WEST KENNEDY HALL
UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA – THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH 11:00am
Thursday, September 12th, 11:00am in Tampa, Florida the University of Tampa unveils their new residence hall, West Kennedy Hall.
Included in this uniquely spectacular new living space are four hand selected one of a kind sculptures by world renowned sandcast glass artist Marlene Rose.
Rose, a local artist, made her museum debut at the Gulf Coast Museum of Art in 2007 and returned to the Tampa Bay area after numerous successful shows in and outside of the US, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the art glass movement at the Museum of Fine Art in St. Petersburg where her 11’ sculpture gracing their front entrance.
those not familiar with sandcast glass, it is a thousands-year-old metal
casting technique that was only incorporated using glass in the past several
decades. 2000 degree molten glass is
sculpted to create these one of a kind works of art. Marlene Rose is one of the few women in this
very physical field which has been traditionally male dominated. Her works being collected by both public and
private museums, fine-art collectors and Hollywood A-list celebrities alike.
Marlene Rose is excited to have been asked to participate in the University of Tampa’s spectacular residence hall living space where she can participate in bringing art to students and visitors alike. She along with everyone who participated in the project will be on hand for the Open House which takes place until 1:00pm
