Who Has The Best Cheesesteak in Largo?

Largo has no shortage of restaurants serving up authentic cheesesteaks. But whose is the best?

As far as we know, Largo does not hold any official claim to the title Cheesesteak Capital of Tampa Bay.

But as someone recently mentioned to Patch, there is a high concentration of places serving authentic cheesesteaks in the greater Largo area. 

That got us to thinking: Who serves the best cheesesteak in Largo?

A quick search shows us there is no shortage of candidates.

The list starts with on East Bay Drive. Their website claims they were the first restaurant in Florida to import Amoroso rolls, a vital component of any authentic cheesesteak, directly from Philadelphia; some people claim a cheesesteak isn’t a real cheesesteak without the real roll.

Further investigation reveals  on Ulmerton Road also has a “direct from Philly” connection. Owner Big Jim is something of a legend in the City of Brotherly Love, where his hoagies earned “Best Cheesesteak in Philly” nods six years in a row, and his claim to offer real sliced steak, and plenty of it, is a deal maker for some.

, with two locations in Largo, might be better known for its delicious pies, but any establishment that puts “cheesesteaks” in the title should serve a quality product. 

 on the corner of Missouri Avenue and East Bay Drive is something of a Largo landmark, having been in the area for more than 20 years. It is also known to make a mean cheesesteak, which one reviewer called “the best steak & cheese around.”
