Thorntons Coming to Park and Starkey

The popular Kentucky based convenience store chain offers over 17 billion drink flavor combinations you can make!

Thornton's is coming to Largo.

The 3,000 to 4,000 square-foot gas station and convenience store is planned on the site of a now empty night club at the intersection of Park and Starkey.

Thorntons is known for its wide selection of fountain drinks where customers can add a choice of flavor shots and choose different types of ice.

The Largo location is currently in the planning stage. Assuming the process continues at the current pace, plans could be complete within 45 days, according to the community development department.

The first Florida location is set to open next spring in Clearwater. The company's Tampa Bay plan includes 15 to 20 stores within the next three years, according to a news release.

The privately held company operates about 165 gasoline and convenience stores in Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee. The first Thorntons opened in Indiana in 1971.

Uh, I believe you mean at the Northeast corner of Starkey Road and Ulmerton Road, at the site of the Badda Bing night club. There is no nightclub at Starkey and Park, but a shopping center and a Perkins. This info was in the latest Largo Leader newspaper also.

Hey David, Thanks for the clarification. Yes, the store is going in the northeast corner, and yes, at a former nightclub site as mentioned in the story. If you would like to know more about what's going in around town, here's a link http://patch.com/A-tVHH
