New Family Dollar Store Nears Completion

The new Family Dollar Store located on the corner of Eighth Avenue SW and Ridge Road is getting closer to completion, although the project is behind schedule.

Construction began on the 8,200-square-foot building six months ago, and officials had hoped the project would be completed by now.

"Construction began on Feb. 21, and everything is on schedule for it to open in about two months," Largo Principal Planner Jesus Nino told Patch back in May.

But weather delays and unforeseen issues with the site pushed the opening back, according to a representative of the construction crew.

The project is now nearing the final stages, as the landscaping is being placed around the perimeter and the interior of the building is nearly ready for occupancy.

When the store is completed it will become the 10th Family Dollar location in the greater Largo area.
