Island Fish Seafood Market Set To Expand

The colorful Indian Rocks Road seafood market is about to add an outdoor patio and an expanded menu.

Ever driven down Indian Rocks Road, noticed a giant swordfish head in front of a colorful old building and wondered what the heck the place was?

The answer is the Island Fish Seafood Market, home to some of the freshest seafood on this side of the bay, according to owner Brad Currey.

"Our motto is you can't get any fresher seafood unless you catch it yourself," Currey told Patch recently.

In addition to selling fresh catches like grouper, snapper, cobia and salmon, Currey added lunch items to the menu when he came on board a year ago.

Now that he's about to take over sole ownership of the shop, he plans on expanding the business even further.

"I'm going to put a big deck out front, expand the menu, add beer and wine and take this place to the next level," he said.

"I plan on evolving, not going extinct!"

For now you can still come to the Island Fish to get everything from homemade crab cakes to hand-cut steaks and chocolate wrapped bacon.

If Currey has his way, soon customers will be able to enjoy a shrimp taco and a cold adult beverage while soaking up the quaint, quirky atmosphere of one of Largo's most colorful businesses.
