Irish Pat’s is Open for Business

The new bar & grill is doing well so far, thanks to a cleaner image and good food.

Move over , and make way for Irish Pat’s Bar & Grill.

The new pub opened in the about a month ago, and so far business has been good, according to managing partner Rui Sousa

“I haven’t had one person say the food isn’t terrific,” he said.

After doing some cosmetic cleaning up of the place, including patching holes, painting the interior and fixing the floor, Sousa says the restaurant is now “a clean, safe place to come and eat with the kids.”

Sousa, who is also a partner in a pair of popular St. Pete establishments, didn’t mess with the O’Boobigan’s formula; he just tweaked it and upgraded it a bit.

There is live music on the outdoor patio twice a month, happy hour daily from 4-7 p.m., free pool during happy hour and regular food and drink specials.

Food specials include corned beef and cabbage on Tuesdays; 50-cent wings from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Wednesdays; and the signature 1-3-5 burger, which is comprised of "one hunk of beef, three different cheeses and five slices of bacon."

Irish Pat's also features sandwiches, soups, salads and wraps, plus appetizers like Guinness gravy and steak fries, and they sell Bud Select drafts for $1 all day.

But it’s Irish Pat’s daily beer and burger special that can’t be beat, according to Sousa.

“You get a half-pound burger with fries and a Bud, Bud Light or Bud Select for $6, every day, all day. How can you beat that?”

Sousa plans to add cornhole in the near future, and he says they will have the NFL Sunday Ticket package on the bar's seven HD TVs in the fall.

As long as the people keep coming in, he plans on being there for a while.

“We’re starting to see a profit after one month, so I’m happy.”
