Who knew that Largo has some of the best burgers and fries in Tampa Bay?
Summer is the perfect time to hunt for some burgers and fries. I was surprised when I stopped by and enjoyed an affordable and homemade tasting burger ($3) and some delicious cajun fries ($1) for under $7 with a fountain drink.
Burgers are cooked medium well by default (and really how else should you consume delicious burger meat)? The burger tasted fresh off the grill and came packed with flavor and fresh toppings. The bun was perfect. This was a burger I would be dreaming about for weeks to come after this meal.
There are a handful of excellent burger places in Tampa Bay. Many of them have set their battle lines along Tampa's Dale Mabry Highway, where BurgerMonger, Burger 21, Square 1 Burgers, and BGR offer great burger options. Billy Jack's is tucked away from all those stars and offers a true hidden gem that can handle a crowd with a large bar and dining area. They regularly host entertainment for their guests as well.
Many burger places either offer great burgers or great fries, but finding a union between them can truly be a challenge and it is here where Billy Jack's can receive a true merit as a place that has both a delicious traditional cheeseburger and finger-licking good cajun french fries. I would never order plain fries again after I enjoyed Billy's cajun choice.
The best part was the waitress at the bar, who was friendly to a lone traveler like myself, and made it clear anyone with a burger craving can roll up to Billy Jack's and strike up a conversation with the locals. I would recommend Billy Jack's to anyone looking for a great American meal. I am looking forward to visiting Billy Jack's in the future for some more combinations of their excellent burgers and fries.
