No more Healthy Hut

After being open for a little over a year, the Healthy Hut on St. Pete Beach is now closed.

The Healthy Hut is closed. The healthy food store located at 595 Corey Avenue on St. Pete Beach was open just over a year before having to close its doors. A Healthy Hut employee said, "there wasn't enough support from the community to keep the store open."

Owners are encouraging supporters to communicate with Healthy Hut via Facebook to get updates on future business possibilities.

Sunday, July 17, was the last day of its storewide blowout sale. All inventory was 50 to 70 percent off, excluding beer and wine, which was 30 percent off.

Healthy Hut was an independently owned health food store with a bakery, grab-and-go market, and restaurant. They catered to special dietary needs, providing organic and gluten-free options for locals.

Every Tuesday customers saved 10 percent off their purchases. Healthy Hut was open Monday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"A Healthy Hut employee said, "there wasn't enough support from the community to keep the store open."" So, the employee seems to be blaming the community for the store's failure.

Philip, in response to that employee... I tried to shop there, but quickly grew frustrated at the on-again, off-again availability of the products. I heard excuses like "the truck didn't show up" over and over again. The community tried to support it – people were excited when it opened – but after that, they were unable to provide a consistent level of service. I'd rather buy stuff online and head to First Fruits and Gulfport's Tuesday Morning Market than not know what I'm getting every time I walked in the place.

Hi Cathy, greetings from Gulfport. I suspected your experiences could have been the case. That's why I couldn't help but call out the employee's blame-game. People don't fail businesses - businesses fail people.

I am trying to heal my heart from a P.E. (pulminary embolisum). My doctor said zero salt and heart healthy non prepared food is my only option. Sorry I missed the 30% off beer and wine. Sounds like your sad attempt at free advertising backfired. Bye bye heart healthy...healthy mart, health attempt..?? Shoot, I forgot the name of the store. Oh well.
