City Hosting "What I Love About Largo” Video Contest

The following is a news release from the City of Largo:

The City of Largo is holding a “What I Love About Largo” video contest for 1st trough 12th grade students living in or attending school in the City of Largo.

The contest is being held in conjunction with the City's Community Values campaign which seeks input from citizens and the business community to identify community priorities through an online survey and workshops.

“During last year's community values survey and workshops, the City heard from hundreds of people who expressed a love for Largo,” says Assistant City Manager Henry Schubert. “This video contest is a great way for our youth to showcase their community pride for the City of Largo. By sharing their creativity, we hope to foster community spirit and promote Largo's unique community identity.”

Video submissions must be received at Largo City Hall by 5pm on Monday, March 3, 2014. Qualifying entries will be posted to the City's website for a public showcase in April. Entries will be evaluated on creativity, originality, message and quality. The first place winner in each category from Elementary, Middle and HighSchool will receive a $200 Amazon gift card. Winners will receive special recognition and a public viewing from the Mayor and City Commission at a City Commission meeting.

Entry guidelines require that all content be shot in the City of Largo and be less than 5 minutes in length. Entries can be simple video clips or fully-edits segments. The City encourages contestants to be creative and have fun, using the video setting of a digital camera or their smartphones.
