Tourist Development Council vacancy is announced

Applications are now being accepted for an appointment to the Pinellas County Tourist Development Council. This appointment is valid until Oct. 31, 2016.

The Tourist Development Council and staff of Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater are responsible for making recommendations to the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners on matters relating to the Tourist Development Tax. This tax is used to strengthen the local economy and increase employment through the ongoing promotion and development of Pinellas County’s tourism industry.

The position is for any person directly involved with the tourism industry who has demonstrated an interest in tourism development but who is not an owner/operator of a hotel or motel. All members of the TDC must be registered to vote in Pinellas County.

Interested parties should submit an application along with a brief biography or résumé outlining their eligibility to serve.

Applications are available online (http://www.pinellascounty.org/tdc/pdfs/2012-TDC-Application.pdf) or are available by mail or email from the TDC office (linnie@visitspc.com).  Applications must be received no later than the close of business on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013. The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners will review all applications and make their selections at the Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 Board of County Commissioners meeting.
