Prestigious honor awarded to Pinellas housing official

The Florida Community Development Association presented the Friend of Community Development award to Anthony Jones, executive director of the Housing Finance Authority and director of Pinellas County Community Development at its state conference held in Clearwater on Aug. 16. The FCDA is a training and advocacy organization for Florida Community Development Professionals.

The award was presented in recognition of the consistently high level of service, excellence and outstanding leadership in the field of community development.

Upon learning about the prestigious award Jones said, “It was a tremendous surprise.  To receive this kind of recognition by one’s peers is quite humbling.  I’m inspired each day by the amazing dedication of our team to improve the communities we serve.”

Michael Holmes, FCDA second vice president and housing manager with Clearwater recommended Jones for the award.

“Anthony was a natural choice,” he said. “He has been instrumental in assisting Clearwater with our community development initiatives such as the Neighborhood Stabilization Program 3 Funds, Habitat for Humanity’s Stevens Creek and Country Club Townhomes just to name a few recent programs. The list of accomplishments goes on and on.”
