Sidewalk Sale This Weekend
Check out food truck fare, local art and other crafted creations at the Downtown Largo Merchants Association sidewalk sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, along West Bay Drive in downtown Largo. Check here for more information.

Organic Living Open House
Taste edibles from the garden, sip some tea and take a tour of the Organic Living Center before it officially opens at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13 at 13026 Indian Rocks Road. For more check here.

Start Scrapbooking
The Crop Til You Drop scrapbooking weekend starts at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, and continues through 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Highland Recreation Complex, 400 Highland Ave NE. The complex will close from 2 to 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Cost is $100 and includes meals, snacks and drinks throughout the weekend. Find out more here.

Koran Burning Foiled

Florida Pastor Terry Jones is making headlines again. He was on his way to a Polk County Park Sept. 11 to burn nearly 3,000 Korans in recognition of the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks when deputies caught up with him. Jones and Marvin Sapp Jr. were charged with unlawful conveyance of fuel, according to the Tampa Bay Times. What do you think about Jones’ antics? Is he trying to make a meaningful statement, or is he stirring up a dangerous situation that could put innocents at risk?

Scott’s Gator Hunt is Off

Florida Gov. Rick Scott won’t charge supporters $25,000 each to join him on a gator hunt later this fall. Huffington Post Miami says the pricey event was taken off the books after questions about the logistics of such a fundraiser were brought to light. The state only allows 5,000 gator hunt permits during alligator season, which runs through Nov. 1.
