Reading is Going to the Dogs
Children can improve their reading skills and make a new friend reading to therapy-trained dogs with the at the Pup Pals Reading Dogs at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at Largo Public Library, 120 Central Park Drive. 

Sanitary Sewer Focus Group Forms

The city's Environmental Services Department is forming a focus group to discuss the needs of its sanitary sewer and reclaimed water customers. 

Want to be a part? Let officials know by Sept. 27.

The group will be lead by a facilitator from USF's Florida Institute of Government. 

The meeting is from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 2 in the Jenkins room of the Largo Public Library, 120 Central Park Drive.

Nuestra Tierra Trio Performs for Hispanic Heritage Month

Catch the Nuestra Tierra Trio perform as part of Hispanic Heritage month at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Largo Public Library, 120 Central Park Drive. The group features acoustic violin player, Teresa Arruza from Spain; guitarist, Juan Carlos from Cuba and percussionist, Manny Lopez from Puerto Rico. Find out more here.

Celebrate National Coffee Day

The weekend is almost here and National Coffee Day is just around the corner. This Sunday, Sept. 29, is the day set aside to celebrate the perfect brew and Dunkin’ Donuts is getting in on the act. The chain is offering a free small coffee to those who use its mobile app. Check out the eatery’s website for more details.

Stamp Prices Rising Again?

The U.S. Postal Service says it needs more per stamp to keep itself afloat financially. It’s asking for approval to up the price of stamps by 3 cents. Before the cost can go to 49 cents a stamp, however, a regulatory green light must be given, according to USA Today. Will You be ‘Satisfried?’

Burger King is hoping that’s going to be the case when consumers check out the chain’s newly launched “satisfries.” The crinkle-cut fries have fewer calories than the restaurant’s normal version and are hoped to appeal to the more health-conscious, according to Business Week. Have you checked them out? Are you “satisfried” or not?

Is that Sunshine?

After days of downpours, it looks like we’re in for a stretch of sunshine. The National Weather Service says rain chances still exist today, Sept. 27, but they’re scant.
