Briarwood Development Agreement Changes, National Night Out

Here's a look at what's going on in Largo Tuesday, Oct. 1.

'Market Rate' Provision to be Removed from Briarwood Contract

City leaders will discuss and vote on changes to the development agreement with Dockside Investors, the developer of a planned 260 unit apartment complex at the former Briarwood RV Park, at the City Commission meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at City Hall, 201 Highland Ave NE.

There were some concerns that a section of the contract outlining that affordable housing be prohibited for 30 years is a violation of the Federal Fair Housing Act.

"The property owner has indicated he will still develop a high quality market rate rental housing project, which he has the legal right to pursue," according to city documents.
