Komen Race for the Cure 2012 - Photo Essay

The 14th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 10K and 5K events were held Saturday. The race began and ended at the Vinoy in downtown St. Petersburg. The weather was warm and muggy, but that didn't deter the enthusiasm.

The Komen is a lot more than just a running event. It celebrates survivors of breast cancer, and encourages those struggling with the disease. At the Komen, people make new friends, celebrate reunions and remember those who have lost the  battle.

There is another small group you see at these Komen events. They are usually off to the side behind the crowd and their emotions range from frightened to terrified. I never take their picture but I am always glad to see them at the event. There are answers and comfort here.

This event is best told in the faces of those who participate so here is my 2012 Photo Essay. You will find just over 200 photos selected from nearly 1400 frames taken at this year's event.

These photos are NOT copyright protected so please feel free to copy them and send to friends, relatives or post on other social media sites.

Near the end I include some pictures of event sponsors booths. Should you happen to drop by one of their local locations, be sure to thank them for being part of an outstanding event.
