Who Has the Best Wings in Largo?
There's a bunch of wing joints in the greater Largo area, but whose wings are king?
Wings have never been as popular as they are now, with so many different varieties to choose from and so many different places serving them.
With that in mind, Patch decided to do a little digging to find the best wing joints in town.
Take a look at some of our suggestions, and vote in the poll below to let us know where you go to satisfy your wing craving.
Sports Shack. Half-fried and half-grilled and coated with a special mayo-based sauce, Sports Shack might have some of the most unique wings in town. Like 'em or not, you gotta give the Missouri Avenue bar props for trying to do wings differently.
Ageing Still. What better place to get wings than a bar that honors the Buffalo Bills? Although the Still is known more as a drinking hangout than an eatery, at least you can chow down on some wings while filling up on your favorite adult beverage and watching the game.
Mugs N Jugs. Although this 66th Street staple is known for other things, its wings are still a big reason why people keep coming in. One of the first places to offer the "naked," blackened option, its wings come in a variety of shapes (choose all drums) and sizes (5 piece to 50 count).
Quaker Steak & Lube. It may be just over the Largo line, but this Pinellas Park eatery is so into wings, we had to include it in our poll. Featuring almost two dozen flavors, from original to Thai to triple atomic, 'the Lube' is a true wing lovers paradise.
Goose's Sports Bar. Known for its laid back, sports bar vibe, this Indian Rocks Road hangout is also pretty well known for its wings. Big, cheap and made with just the right flavor, Goose's kicks it up a notch when it comes to wings.
Wing Zone. Boasting 15 flavors, including nuclear habanero and sweet samurai, plus the ability to mix-n-match, Wing Zone has one of the more varied wing menus in the area.
Applebee's. Although this family restaurant chain doesn't really advertise its wings, it's a little-known secret that it serves some of the tastiest wings in town. If you haven't tried them yet, there are a couple of these popular neighborhood establishments in the greater Largo area to choose from.
WingHouse. Great wings, big beers, plenty of flat screens and attractive young servers. No, they needn't say more.
Cast your vote for Best Wing joint below. Voting is open until noon on Friday, and we'll announce the winner right here at 3 p.m. and present the winner with a Best of Patch certificate. Enjoy the wings!
Update: The votes are in, and the Largo Patch readers' choice for Best Wings in Largo 2012 is WingHouse, with 79% of the vote. Congratulations!

It depends, I love the boneless wings and buffalo chicken salad at Mugs n Jugs, but the wings at WingHouse.

Unless you KNOW the real thing as it was invented in Buffalo at the Anchor Bar, you just don't know wings. Unless it's as close to the original as you can get, all you're eating is fried chicken. Nothing more.

The only place I eat wings is at THE Niagara Tap. In the past, I've tried wings at a lot of the places listed and they don't compare to THE Niagara Tap. From their naked to their honey-bbq to their Niagara-style wings (a definite must have), it don't get any better than THE Niagara Tap!

Niagara Tap has THE BEST wings in Pinellas, far superior to the chain restaurants...and home of the one and only Niagara Rub. Not to mention, the Tap's homemade Blue Cheese dressing is the most addicting and delicious compliment that wings could have!!! I suggest you revise your search for greatness to include this hidden gem of Largo!!

Thank all of you for the suggestions and comments. We encourage your suggestions to help get the word out about places people may not be aware of. I promise Patch will be making a trip to Niagara Tap to check out those awesome wings very soon!

Jeffrey - It's great that you are planning a trip to Niagara Tap to try their wings. It's a must to sample the Hot Garlic wings while there - I doubt that you would find a better garlic sauce anywhere else!

Sounds like I'm going to have to try a few flavors, Craig, and I can't wait to sample that homemade blue cheese Brandy mentioned. I believe bleu cheese is truly an underrated element of eating wings, so any place with awesome blue cheese automatically ranks high in my book!

Many of the mentioned "pubs" are great......but where do you get the best for the "buck." I hate to be over charged for 12-20 wings.
