What Do You Think Should Go Here?
The City of Largo is asking developers for proposals of what should go in the 500 block of West Bay Drive in downtown Largo.
The 500 block along West Bay Drive is owned by the City of Largo. The 1.176 parcel is nestled between busy Clearwater-Largo Road and Missouri Avenue North.
Currently the block is vacant, except for the buildings rented by Barley Mow Brewing. The city issued a request for proposal recently, which asks developers to submit plans for the city block in the downtown Largo.
City zoning allows for mixed-use. Options include retail space and restaurants on the first floor and offices or residential space on the upper stories. Plus, internal parking could be included as a part of the development plans, said the city's Economic Development Manager Teresa Brydon.
What would you like to see on the 500 block of West Bay Drive? Let us know in the comments.

Would like to see a vibrant business come into the area and pay taxes. A non-profit business would not be the best choice, in my opinion.

Largo is on desperate need of an Organic/Health food store.Kinda like NaturesFood Patch. Other ideas that come to mind: tackle shop. On the way to the boat ramps, there is nothing that offers such. Perhaps offering jetski rentals as well... My last idea would offer an Exotic type of Nursery. Peaking interests more to our environment and needs to the type of people we wish to attract.

The picture is of a new American Brewing company. Barley Mow Brewing Company. We would like it to stay there! It is owned by some wonderful people that strive to bring business to Largo. We had our first anniversary Party there. We also have friends planning their wedding anniversary party there. We Love that place!

I know it's not sexy but I would like to see a parking facility. This would encourage customers to come to Largo, stroll and patronize Largo businesses. Parking facilities do not have to be ugly. They could landscape/decorate it with native Florida vegetation, like Largo Central Park.

Before developing I would like to see the vacant downtown businesses filled. Downtown Largo really doesn't have too much in the way of shopping :(
