The city hopes to encourage economic redevelopment of downtown by improving the appearance of the West Bay Drive area from Seminole Boulevard to Clearwater-Largo Road.

Munyan Painting Services plans to start this week painting the benches, trash cans and bike racks in the Ulmer Park area and will continue down the north and south sides of West Bay Drive. Painting of the street lights and monotube will be done last, according to a city report.

The metal surfaces will be painted using a special electrostatic process to prevent paint from spraying on cars along busy West Bay Drive. The city commission approved the project in May.

The whole project will take about a month to complete weather permitting. There will be some temporary lane closures as a part of the project.
