Weekend Things to Do: Feb. 17-19

Nature Preserve Cleanup, Yard Sale, Rays Fan Fest, Chili, Sea-Blues

 

1. Nature Preserve Cleanup. Volunteers are needed to help with the Saturday morning cleanup of the Largo Central Park Nature Preserve from 9 a.m. until noon. The preserve is located at 150 Highland Ave. SE near Mavericks High School. Volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves and any garden tools they wish.

2.Yard Sale.  The Elks of Largo will hold a flea market Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be old and new items, along with crafts. The market will be held outside in the shady grove area. The Elks Lodge is at 810 16th Ave SE.

3. Rays Fan Fest. Ready to head back to the ballpark? The Tampa Bay Rays Fan Fest starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. Walk on the field, tour the locker room, get an autograph (expect long lines), run the bases, buy baseball memorabilia at the yard sale and more. Admission and parking are free.

4. Chili Cook-off. The 7th Annual Grand Central District Chili Cook-off is Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tasting tickets are $20 the day of the cook-off. Taste all kinds of chili and vote for your favorite. In addition to hot chili, enjoy hot music and hot crafts. The cookoff is on Central Avenue between 24th and 26th Streets in St. Petersburg.

5. Sea-Blues. The Knology Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival is Saturday (starts at noon) and Sunday (starts at 1 p.m.). The outdoor music festival blends blues artists, seafood and a picturesque waterfront venue. General admission is free and reserved seating tickets are available for purchase. The festival is in Coachman Park, 301 Drew Street in Clearwater.
