Son Charged In Indian Rocks Beach Shooting Death of Father

A domestic dispute between a visiting Fort Myers family leaves one dead, one arrested.

An 18-year-old Fort Myers man is charged with the shooting death of his father late Friday at an Indian Rocks Beach hotel room.

James Allen Davis, 41, was shot by his son Brandon Lee Davis with a semi-automatic handgun after a domestic dispute, according to detectives. 

On Friday night James Allen Davis and his wife Dana were in an argument that later their son Brandon Lee Davis got involved with.

At approximately 10:25 p.m. during the argument Brandon Lee Davis took out a semi-automatic handgun and shot his father several times causing his death, detectives said.

When Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies and paramedics arrived to the hotel, 401 2nd St., in Indian Rocks Beach, they discovered James Allen Davis dead.

No one else was injured during the shooting. Deputies recovered the gun. 

According to detectives the Fort Myers family was staying at the hotel for just a couple of days.   They checked in on Thursday April 28, and they were due to check out Saturday April 30.

Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies arrested and charged Brandon Lee Davis with second degree murder in the death of his father. 

Detectives are still investigating the shooting.
