Rollover Crash Near St. Pete-Clearwater Airport Halts Traffic

It took about 20 minutes to extricate the driver, who was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A rollover crash in front of the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport tied up traffic for about an hour starting around 3 p.m. Tuesday, fire officials said.

Firefighters from the Pinellas Park and Largo fire departments, as well as from the airport's fire department, spent about 20 minutes extricating the driver of a 2003 Jeep. Paramedics said the injuries were not life threatening, and the driver was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

The driver of a large delivery truck that was also involved in the crash was not injured.

Eastbound traffic on Roosevelt Boulevard was rerouted around the airport, officials said. Traffic was reopened around 4:15 p.m.

Air traffic was not interrupted, according to officials.
