Lucky Duck Survives Arrow in Its Neck (VIDEO)
After a crossbow bolt is removed from his neck, Quackers is on the way to a full recovery.
Quackers is one lucky duck.
Found with a crossbow bolt through his neck last week, Quackers was picked up by Pinellas County Animal Services and taken into surgery, where the arrow was removed.
Pinellas County Animal Control Officer John Hobson had joined forces with Damen Hurd and Derrick Ross of Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation in Bradenton to rescue the duck, which was in a St. Petersburg pond.
Since his surgery, Quackers is now on the way to a recovery and is expected to make the move from Animal Services to Loving Care Animal Hospital in Largo sometime Thursday.
Quackers will stay at Loving Care until he's completely recovered, at which time he will be released back into the wild.
Check out our video to see how Quackers has recovered from the injury. Take a gander at the crossbow in the X-ray, and you'll realize why he is one lucky duck!

Ah yes...the old lucky duck
That one day I was hauling in my truck
And in the front was my girl who was sweet
Who suggested this road would be real neat
It was except my wheels got stuck
And then I asked her if she would like to
Get out and push
The lucky duckie wasn't very lucky was he

"Found with a crossbow bolt through his neck..." OK, yes, those AFLAC commercials ARE really annoying, but I think that's taking it way too far!

I am so relieved to hear that Quackers is going to be ok! This is a very sad story with a happy ending. And a great reminder to anyone who sees an animal in need of care to call Pinellas County Animal Services or whoever is able to come and get the animal.
