Walls can be seen at the new Highland Recreation Complex construction site.

Have you peeked over the construction walls at the Highland Family Aquatics Center and checked out progress on the new recreation center?  A couple of block walls of the proposed new Highland Recreation Complex building are now visible.

The project has remained on schedule despite recent wet weather conditions. The new facility is set to open in May 2013.

The contractor continues to work on the recreation building's foundation and block walls. Underground storm water drainage work has started on the eastern portion of the property. Steel work is expected to start this week, wrote Facilities Manager Glenn Harwood in the weekly city report.

The current facility and aquatics complex remain open during construction. Patrons need to use the new Lake Avenue entrance because the Highland Avenue entrance is closed for construction.
