Obama, Romney: Who Are You Voting For?
Take our poll to let us know which candidate you’re backing in the 2012 race.
As the clock ticks down toward Election Day 2012, we want to find out which candidate you’re supporting in the race for the White House.
Do you prefer incumbent President Barack Obama? Perhaps you feel it’s time for a change and have deemed that Gov. Mitt Romney is your man. Just let us know by clicking your pick in our totally unscientific poll.
Since the Tampa Bay area is such a crucial piece of real estate in any presidential election, we know the vote stumping here is going to heat up as October moves forward. Campaign staff and candidates themselves are likely to have a strong presence here in the coming weeks. Don’t be surprised to see both Obama and Romney making some personal appearances here to try and convince you to cast your vote their way.
With all that in mind, you can look at this poll as sort of an early temperature reading. We’ll check back with you in November to see if all the stumping has changed your mind.
So Tampa Bay, which candidate are you backing? Take our poll to have your say or voice your opinions in the comments section.

10. And one more point.....pundits say because of his wealth, he can't relate to ordinary Americans. I guess that's because he made that money HIMSELF.....as opposed to marrying it or inheriting it from Dad. Apparently, he didn't understand that actually working at a job and earning your own money made you unrelatable
to Americans.

Why Mitt Romney is Unlikable !
A lot is being said in the media about Mitt
Romney not being "likable" or that he doesn't "relate well" to people.
Frankly, we struggled to understand why. So after much research, we have come up with a Top Ten List to explain this "unlikablility."
Top Ten Reasons To Dislike Mitt Romney:
Jimmy Thompson
11:54 am on Tuesday, October 30, 2012
Milton,
Here is an updated version of your top ten list... with a few extras added.
11. If you vote for and elect Mitt Romney and we get into another war with a middle east country for the financial benefit of companies like Raytheon, General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman, Boeing and Lockheed Martin.... if we go to war again with Iran under false pretense that they "could get Nukes", and one of your friends or family die in that war... their blood is on your hands. The people funding Romney's campaign want another war. Many will benefit from it financially. I know many of you don't care, and want to go to war with Iran, but seriously... their blood will be on your hands.
Jimmy Thompson

10. Wealth: It's not just pundits who say he cannot relate to ordinary Americans. This guy has NO clue. He can't relate at all. He doesn't like you. He only wants your vote. If he fails to win the election, watch what happens with this guy. If he DOES win the election, watch what happens to you. You will be forgotten (assuming your one of the middle class). You will see the stocks soaring on wall-street because billionaires will be getting richer. That will not trickle down to your pockets. What, a 40 cent raise every year? Think that'll do you good? These CEOs that will benefit from Romney's vision of America will be getting much more than that...
He did NOT earn his money. He got his start because of his Father, who was a Wealthy and very politicized American. I am not sure where you get your facts from, but seriously, if your parents are rich, you are better off and can do more things than someone who does not have the same benefits. Remember his comments about borrowing money from your parents? Think about it... maybe you're one of the lucky ones who can.
Jimmy Thompson

9. Mormons: Inside the real cult of Mormonism: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6udew9axmdM
This cultish religion is weird and only powerful because of the amount of money they have. Hey, sounds like someone we all know. Mitt Romney is weird and only powerful because of all the money he has.
8. Sons: All were given silver spoons and have been in the public view their entire lives. They have been given everything and did not have the same struggles 99% of the rest of American's have to. This doesn't make them bad people, but when you are given such an opportunity and live with such strict mormon values, the chance of veering off the path to success is probably pretty difficult.
Jimmy Thompson
11:55 am on Tuesday, October 30, 2012
7. Religion: Religion should have no place in government. I know many, many, many, good people who are non-religious. Religion does not equal a "Good" moral structure. I could reference the countless pastors and priests who have raped or fondled little boys. I could reference many murders where it was claimed that God made them do it. People are people, and they will do dumb stuff regardless. Some choose to follow a religion and claim they are good when they are not. If you are a good person, you are a good person, faith or no faith. And stop trying to alienate those who do not believe like you do. We are people with moral values. We just don't believe in what you believe in.
6. Doesn't smoke or drink alcohol, and has never done drugs, not even in the counter-culture age when he went to college. Too square for today's America ?
5. Intelligence: If he's so smart, why is he trying to dumb down America with lies? He may be smart, but the people following him blindly are not. He says exactly what YOU want him to hear. Even if Romney gave you a shovel to dig your own grave, you'd gladly take it and smile because Obama never gave you anything.
4. Racism: It is unfortunate that your racist beliefs assume that someone who is cultured and can speak properly to many different types of Americans can be seen as a bad thing.
Jimmy Thompson
11:56 am on Tuesday, October 30, 2012
3. Scandals/Skeletons: Read the news (Not just YOUR news). Mitt is involved with many different scandals. He avoids paying taxes in every way possible. Taxes help contribute to America, and he does everything he can to avoid it. He has his money in foreign economies and could be evading taxes to do so. He refuses to show his full tax forms for the previous 10 years, and his summary that was released is a joke. Romney is nothing but a walking scandal. Your entire party believed it 4 years ago when they wanted McCain and not Romney. They believed it when they wanted anyone but Romney this year during the Primaries. Remember Hermain Cain? Remember Bachman? Remember Santorum? Yes, they were all preferred over this joke. He also lies a lot. But you know this and don't care.
2. Faithful: Is part of a religion that still believes one man can marry multiple women. Has not discredited this.
1. Looks: Superficial and also racist, to choose Romney as President because of his looks would only solidify stupidity.

George, if what you say is true, have you looked into cancer fighting methods not approved by the criminal FDA cartel??
At least there's one Presidential candidate on the ballot in all 50 states who wouldn't send the Feds to stop you from seeking out alternative methods.........he's not Dr. Ron Paul, but if you guys want real change in DC, you'd look into former NM Governor Gary Johnson.
Take 5 minutes to research Gary Johnson and you will see he is a real American, not one of the people who spent years outside the US. He actually built a business.........ran his state as it should be ran, believes in our Liberties, as well as those in other countries and actually left his state with a surplus...........unlike the other clowns who love Keynesian debt.

Sam, Isn't it sad that you have to ask if what I said about my cancer was was true? I understand why you asked it but it's too bad we've wound up in that position. Yes it is true. I was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer in July 2003. It has since advanced to Stage 4 with metastases to the liver, lungs, and spine (L3). The median survival time is 7 months with a 3% 5-year survival rate. I've made it almost 27 months in a relatively painless state so I guess I can't complain.
I'm very familiar with Gary Johnson and have followed his career since he was governor of NM. If he had a shot in hell, I would probably vote for him. But the gangsters who run the two major parties have rigged the system. It's about as genuine as pro wrestling. Frank Zappa once said that "Politics is the Entertainment Division" of the Military Industrial Complex." He was right more than he knew. It serves the same function for the Walls Street Bankers, health insurance, and Big Pharma.
And yes I have explored alternative forms of fighting cancer. After researching them, I have come to the conclusion that there are so many fraudsters running scams that it makes it next to impossible to find effective methods without bankrupting your survivors. So you're caught between a rock and a hard place.
Thanks for the recommendation though.

I mean how ridiculous can people be when they blame the congress. He had it all for 2 years plus. Total control. The only thing he did was pass a law the public did not want. The Senate was not under sufficient Democratic control (60 votes) during President Obama's first term except for the brief period after after Sen Coleman (R-MN) gave up his well-compensated, futile attempt at dragging out the recount and finally allowed Sen, Franken to be installed. After Sen, Kennedy's death, his seat was held by Sen. Brown (R). In addition there were several Senators from Republican states who would not vote with the Democratic party they were elected from. "Complete control of Congress" by Democrats is a myth. Only Republicans always vote according to what their leaders (NRA, Grover Nordquist) tell them to do; Democratic elected officials vote more independently.

I didn't say that give to both parties, you will see that the media covets one party over another. Hence why I used the two extreme examples of Fox News (big Republican Donor) and MSNBC (big Democratic Donor). To point out facts over your opinions, it's a left/right or indifference agrument. It is an intelligent agrument. When doing research you should always concern yourself with the source of your material. Obviously you do not as long as it fits your agrument. The political parties do not work for the people they work for those who are feeding them money. Again it's good business for them to take care of those who feed them.

Since you believe that movie directed by the same made who wrote the book ( Dinesh D'Souza) is fact. I hope you do not work in the work place because based on his 2003 book women belong in the home and that feminism is demoralizing and devaluing the natural place of a woman. Also it was America who caused the Terrorist Attacks on 9/11 because of our lifestyle and society (2007 book).
Let us also remember that the author has never met his subject matter. And critics on both sides have agrued facts that prove his opinions wrong and he still looks the other way. It is no more than the Michael Moore Feignheit 9/11 (2004) of this election. Opinions sold as facts based on a bias bigot.

For Tina Marie, and others who imagine that one trash "movie" is different than Michael Moore's trash movie called Farenheit 9/11:
The Joseph Goebels News Network has reported that the US State Department has signed a treaty with the Romulans, and pledged that all white males between the ages of 18 and 65 will serve two year terms in the Blue Helmet Forces of the Romulan Empire.
On that basis Glenn Breitbart, lead anchor for Goebels, has theorized that this means that Obama will now release the five Klingons, who someone's fourth cousin in Charlston claimed are being held in Area 51, to the Gamma Sigma terrorist brigade based on the planet Alderaan.
The fact that the twelve captured Klingons, part of the Klingon invasion force which the Obama-led US Armed Forces has been unable to locate, are now being granted preferred work-visa status by Obama's left-wing Immigration and Nationalization Service, is cited by other unidentified sources as proof that socialism now exists in this country.
Once those fifty-seven Klingons receive their visas, it is expected that they will take over the public library system in the United States, thereby rendering everyone not now watching Goebels News as clueless as those who do.

My wife and I were once Republicans, but that was before the Republican Party pushed out all of the moderates and became the party of right wing extremists. Unfortunately, the Republican Party is now the party of the anti-science and anti-woman, religious fundamentalists and tea partiers, who have signed the Grover Norquist tax pledge promising that the wealthiest people in society will never have to pay a dollar more in taxes. Although Pres. Obama is far from perfect, at least he cares about women and middle class people. He wants to see that health care is available to everyone and not just the rich. Perhaps you don't know the way it works. This is the way it goes either body produces a bill then it is discussed and then one or the other comes back with changes then they reach an agreement. Although I am a lifelong Republican, there is no way I could support Romney and his Ayn Rand-loving sidekick.
The 47%, which Romney so callously mocked, are not leaches or victims; they are American just like you and me. Some of them are retired. Some of them are veterans. Some of them have been out of work for a long time in this five year old recession.
But they are all Americans, even if they don't belong to the right country club, or know which fork to use for the salad, and even if they don't have vast sums invested outside the United States.
He's not perfect, but I'll go with Obama.
HLL
8:35 am on Tuesday, October 2, 2012
Romney quote was a pointed piece of reality - that 47% of the electorate will vote Democrat so he won't focus on that group. He was unPC when discussing "the victim", but remember, he is largely correct -- that many Democrats want the government to provide for them. He is not discussing the retiree or veteran (who likely has ample savings to live on, with military pension (for the vet) and savings (for the retiree who made the decision to retire). He was talking about the ObamaPhone lady.
Romney doesn't have vast sums outside the US, but rather a small portion of the trust (which yes, is huge) is invested in funds offshore. This is a wise decision -- since in 2008, there was the chance that the banking system (and banks) and financial system (investment banks) within the US might fail. It is merely a strategy to diversify where his wealth is kept. And it is less than 5%.
Most importantly, Obama's policies are - and will continue - to surpress the economy, because Keynesian philosophy has never worked. All we will see is a continuation of massive spending with no reform to the tax code, SS, medicare, etc.

HLL, Your comment that Romney was not "PC" when he called 47% of America "victims is almost as funny as your defense of him keeping just a "small portion" of his trust offshore. BTW did have you seen his tax returns for the last 7+ years he has been running for President? You apparently are not a retiree or a veteran and clearly not a woman or you would know Gov. Romney only understands other millionaires and has no idea what the rest of Americans struggle to do. "Ample" savings? Try telling that to those whose investments got creamed by President Bush II's tax deregulation and tax cuts for the wealthy.

The group is about being homeless or not working or even working having to retire due to age issues or sickness. Anyone who thinks they are above this are truly not and listening to this is not a good thing to hear. When one actually wants someone who segregates via age, illness etc.. some of those people is talking about worked, supported this country actually made it a great place until the downslide.. which came with every Republican not just one but each. I understand when people wanted to be Republican because they actually believe they had more because of it. Well thats not true. Republicans have fallen into that 47 percent as well as all. When one is being honest with themselves they can then be honest with each other. And why do you think a man like Romney would be able to provide jobs? Since his only job was to take companies apart and send them overseas??? Yet its like they (Republicans) worship something that isn’t any longer there and I don’t get what one gets out of that?

If you're not outraged with the Obama Administration, you're not really paying attention. Let's just start with one of today's headlines:
Sen. Graham: Obama move on defense layoff notices 'patently illegal'
By Jeremy Herb - 10/01/12 02:45 PM ET
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) says that he will do anything he can to block the Obama administration from reimbursing defense contractors for severance costs if the firms don’t send layoff notices to employees.
The Obama administration issued guidance Friday that said defense firms’ costs would be covered if they have to layoff workers due to canceled contracts under the across-the-board cuts set to take effect Jan. 2.
***************************************************************
You hear that Obama Sheep-le? He will cover defense contractors' potential legal costs for VIOLATING THE LAW with YOUR taxpayer money so that the lay-offs do not occur before the vote!
The man does what he wants to do when he wants to do it and the MANY scandals that have occurred in this administration get low-to-no coverage from the mainstream media.

For Ms Marko, if the useless House of Representatives will actually do something bipartisan, and stop impeding the legislative process, then the United States will not go over that self-imposed (repeat, self-imposed) cliff.
The House screwed us all over in August of 2011, so much so that S & P dropped the US debt rating by one notch.
When the Congress gets back to the kinds of bipartisan efforts that were standard in the 60's, and 70's, and 80's (remember Reagan and Tip O'Neil?), then we will not see automatic drastic cuts in government programs like Defense.

Is your entire knowledge of Keynesian economics the "overspending" agrument you have. Or do you know of the portion of countercyclincal revenues? It is an economic philosophy this country has since the 1930's, but because Obama is using it you have an issue with it. It's basis is government and business working complimentary not as substitues in a Free Market Economy. But how can Obama be a Keynesian and a Socialist? Even Fox News tripped over that a few days ago. As far as reform, it's hard to have reform when the legislative branch doesn't start by creating legislation to create those reforms. I know the agrument he had two years of democratic major which was less than the 60% needed to pass a bill, so bad agrument. The Executive Branch of our government doesn't create legislation that is for Congress, so point your finger where it should be pointed. As far as your last agrument:
"There is not one country/economy that has ever boomed under huge govt control -- the US has been successful in the past because of its freedoms and small govt." Since the 1930's we have had big government, so I guess we haven't been successfull in 80 years. Many countries and economies have big governments and are successful. Clearly neither of you are women. Any state legislature taken over by GOP in 2010 spent nearly all its time coming up with laws to regulate bodily functions of women. Then they went on to voter suppression laws. And the House GOP, just what did they spend time on this year? Imposing anti-abortion laws on the District of Columbia and Paul Ryan's co-sponsoring of the "personhood" laws. For women, even those who are pro-fetus, the number of laws regulating our bodies promoted by these old white men is reason enough to vote against the GOP. Todd Akin (legitimate rape doesn't cause pregnancy!) speaks for the Republican platform supported by the Romney/Ryan ticket. So, yes, for 50% of Americans there is difference between the two tickets. Wade on the Federal Level? If you truly want to protect your rights you would be stopping the ground on the legislative level. But again, they are minor issues that truly will only be determined by the Judical Branch of our government. It is just a an issue which they have no control over they use to get the mass up in arms.

Michael D. I love your sensible comments! This one wasn't one of those! Putting in place new laws which regulate women's health care at the county, state and national level is not a minor matter. Women are dying today and will die tomorrow from cancers that could be caught, from complications with pregnancy, from all of the personal, unique to women health care issues as a result of the obstacles to health care access which legislators (at every level) who are primarily old, male and white insist on passing. The platforms of the two national tickets are starkly different as is the political debt owed to women. It will matter to women which national candidate wins. It will also matter to vote for local and state candidates who will support access to health care for women.

Lynda,
I'm not stating that women's rights are a minor manner in the sense that it is a minor thing. I'm saying it is an issue that neither party candidate really will have the power to change, but it is an issue they are trying to run on to get the base excitted. No medical lobbyst is going to allow legislation to stop Roe vs. Wade, Birth control, morning after, etc.. the big pharma lobbyst will not allow such legislation to go throught. It is too much money involved to allow that to change. I have a few friends in the medical lobby that know that it is not in their best interest for such legislation to pass. The only area where Romney (if he is that dumb) would have a chance to make any changes to said legislation would be through Supreme Court nominations. Which he will at least have one and up to 5 with current estimates (lobbyst stats). So I do think it is a minor issue, because the real powers at be will not allow it to happen.

Mr. Miller,
The $700 Million was redistributed, but if you truly read the Affordable Healthcare Bill and not the propaganda machines on either side. Your money for health care is still there for you. As far as the vacations agrument, no president has taken as many as Bush. $3 million on vacations are what they are, and $3 million doesn't move the needle in a $15.09 trillion dollar company which is the United States. And the U.S. Government revenue stream isn't taxes alone (taxes are less than 50% of the governments revenue). As far as reducing the military, not as much as being said by the media. My industry would be in trouble if that was the case. As far as sending money to Egypt, so did Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Reagan etc... so he is not the only one. Do you really need to say By the Way so much? I'm glad you said Bush was only president for 7 years, I guess that means you can remove the final year where it was on average above 6% and where the climb of unemployment started (burea of labor statistics). As we are discussion Clinton unemployment was dropping the last four quarters of Clinton's presidency from 4.3 to 3.9 Dec '00 and Jan '01. So that dig not so much there. What does 9/11 have to do with this agrument, really... nothing. Both Bush and Obama spent trillions of dollars to make the machine work again, both have had successes and failures. I do not blame either for the state we are in when their is a global recession/depression. Just so you understand the facts, which seem to be an issue with you. GLOBAL RECESSION, in a worldeconomy where our boom comes from selling overseas hard to do with a global recession. China and other countries are able to do what we do, cheaper and with in the case of nominal items similar quality. As far as you can't make things better with restricting Free Enterprise I guess Reagan who did just that with this trade tarriffs was wrong as well? I bet not in your book. I believe in Free Trade and Free Enterprise, and Obama hasn't done anything to truly restrict that. The propoganda machine will tell you he has though.

After the eight disastrous Bush years, in which he massively cut federal revenues (a/k/a "Bush Tax Cuts") while massively increasing federal expenditures with two unfunded wars (one of which was totally unnecessary and unjustified), and with Bush presiding over the near-total-collapse of our financial system which took unbelievable risks in the deregulated environment, you don't get out of the resulting recession in four years.
Obama deserves a second term to continue the progress that has been made already, and it would have been even better, already, except for the GOP's well-known (and admitted) mission to make Obama a one term President.

As long as you have liberal left wing democratic judges sitting on the bench you can not have "By the People and for the People". They legislate from the bench. When the people vote for something in a referendum courts like the 9th circut in San Francisco overturn it. In Ct.. the same thing. How about eminent domain.?Taking away peoples property so that they can build a strip mall dosen't seem very democratic to me. Does it to you?

You are delusional if you think it is only the "liberal left wing" that is removing the personal liberties away from the average citizen. Maybe you should actually start reading the bills being passed and by whom. Because both parties are strip-mining your personal liberties, and have been for over a century.

Today would have been Gandhi's 143 birthday. Someone crushed my Obama sign. To the bullies out there, just know that Instead of intimidating me, you just woke up the beast. " Be the Change you want to see in the world ". Respect others rights to be different, to choose who they love, to be free to Be themselves. These people are so dillusional that they think they can bullie everyone into their belief system. You catch more flies with honey than with a stick, but somehow they don't get that. They claim to be for freedom, but they use hate, intimidation and judgment to force their way onto others. That is not freedom that is bullying. True freedom respects others and let's everyone Choose. On top of it all, they claim to do it in the name of God. If someone really believes in God, they understand that God can handle it and did not send as here as judges and prosecutors. Insane. The whole thing is insane.

If 5% unemployment, $2 gas, $9T national debt and a two-front war in the Mid East were bad under Bush, then 8% unemployment, $4 gas, $16T national debt, a six-front war in the Mid East, record numbers of people on food stamps and disability (as the average household income has plummeted by $4,000 a year) is worse under Obama.
No fair individual who claimed to disapprove of Bush because of spending, war and arrogance can honestly resupport Obama now. A vote for Obama in '08 is understandable, but a vote for him after how poor a job he has done now is something that should prevent people with a conscience from making that severe an error. It is truly grievous, and the degree of difference of the foul isn't much whether the rationale for an Obama 2012 vote is born out of ignorance or hypocrisy.
And if you just dislike Romney, then just do not vote. Voting for who you like most or dislike least is not how we should be voting. It is not about who you would like to have a fantasy dinner with, but who can do the better job. In 2008, I determined neither Obama nor McCain would be one of life more capable presidents and I simply did not vote. Romney has only ever done a great job at everything he has done. Obama has had four years and has made everything considerably worse. It is simply unfair to your own honesty to support Obama this time around.

Trask,
While in a vaccuum your agrument makes sense, in reality it doesn't. Unemployment, started with a bubble bursting in 2008 (Bush Administration) which the current President is still having to deal with. A problem 20 years in the creation isn't going to be fixed in 4 years. Especially when the vastiness of the issue wasn't truly determined until 2 years in. Which has effected both Unemployement and the Debt. Regardless of how much was spent, being for 3 years he followed a lot of the same telnets as Bush we were going to increase the debt. Gas prices aren't determined by this country alone. As people who dumb to blame Bush for the gas prices, they are just as dumb to blame Obama for the gas prices. No, drill in America will not produce enough oil to truly move the needle in the price of Oil. There isn't enough oil comparied to Middle East, South America, and Russia. No matter who was elected in 2008 they were going to fail on those three fronts. If McCain was elected we would be hearing the same stuff about him. Has Obama made mistakes? yes. has he does some things that work? yes. You can't blame a man for things he can't control, only those he truly can. You also have to look well beyond our Excutive Branch of the government and look at the Legislative Branch. If Obama needs to go so do all the Congress and Senators. Also in our state we need to evaluate both as well.

Carl, first does it matter at this point. He is currently president. Second he has all the documentation that you or I have to show that he was born in the U.S.. If the multiple background checks that have been run haven't truly found anything.
By the way the story is about his paternal grandmother who was speaking through an interrupter on a phone interview. Who later in the same interview corrected the statement saying she recieved a letter of his birth while she was in Kenya. His Maternal Grandmother didn't give interviews due to illiness during his 2008 campaign.
And just like Romney, it wouldn't have mattered with his mom being a citizen and living in the U.S. for 5 years before her 14th birthday. Which is the law his birth would fall under.

I do recognise a couple elements you point out: Obama's continuation of some Bush policies (he pretty much stayed the course by keeping Bush's economic and war teams intact) and inherent ailments within govt a result of generations of bad policy.
However, I do not think this exempts Obama from responsibility. After all, one year of Obama spending eclipsed all 8 years of Bush red ink. Even if one would like to excuse him because he continued Bush policies in areas, he is still the one making that decision and with his own party in complete control of both houses of congress during those two first years, moreover. He didn't lead; in other words, he deferred to partisans no one likes...see Reid and Pelosi on Affordable Care.
I would also add that Obama is not the first to inherit a mess. JFK then Reagan, Clinton and GWB all entered office as outgoing presidents 'left' economic malaise or worse -- and it took none of them long before signs of improvement were evident, much less a reality where instead we get explanations of why this time is different and 8% unemployment for 43-and-counting months is something to understand. You know? If generations of spending and debt are responsible, then how does hyperaccelerating in those very directions represent a positive change?
Obama has not lead, he has changed nothing. And the bottom line I think most will see is: Why does Obama deserve to be rehired when Mitt seems strong against these very ills?

Patrick,
The problem isn't the dollar amount, you have to look at the true dollar value. Then the numbers are not so out of wack. Still Obama has spent some money, and I'm not excusing Obama for his role. Just saying that like many before him a mess was made and we are blaming one for the role of many. As far as control of both houses, not enough to effectively pass true legislation. He is not the first to inherit the mess, but the first to inherit a mess of this magnitude since probably Roosevelt. If you look at what Reagan, JFK, and Clinton their recessions were no where close. Reagan entered in a slight recession that was seeing some growth through Carter's housing legislation (which is what ultimately caused this mess). Clinton entered an economy that was starting a shift in dynamics in our economic structure. Clinton was smart in he kept a good amount of Reagan's policies. I would say it was the last time we had bipartisanship in the Federal Government (which is the true problem). The unemployment issue started in 2nd Quarter of 2008, housing/banking market burst in a historic level. Now it is my belief that both Bush and Obama reacted incorrectly for a Free Market society, but that is my opinion. This isn't a 4 year fix, or even an 8 year fix. It took 15 years before we corrected a recession of this magnitude. Now as I have stated earlier I have my own issues with Obama, but I will not fault him for things that are beyond his span of control.

Monica here are some things that Romney has done and how he has served others:
- Has given an avg of nearly 14% to charity throughout his entire career and nearly 30% from his most recent tax returns
- Gave away his entire inheritance from his father to charity and BYU.
- Shut down Bain Capital for several days to coordinate efforts to help find a 14-year old missing daughter of one of his colleagues. Romney is praised for literally saving the young girl's life.
- Took no salary while Gov. of MA
- Took no pay for coordinating the Olympics in Salt Lake City
- Took no pay while serving on the board of his church
- In 1990, he was asked to return to Bain Capital to be its CEO and save it from bankruptcy. He only took a 1 dollar salary.
- Asked V.A. hospital what they needed, and they said milk. Romney paid out of his pocket to provide 7,000 pints of milk every week for 2 years.
- Romney took time out of his busy schedule to help a dying 14-year boy write his will. He literally went to the hospital with a legal-pad notebook, and helped him write it out, so his skateboard and model rockets went to his friends and brother.
- Romney paid 100% of 2 boys college tuition, after they became quadriplegics after a car accident. This, after the fact, that the Romney family constantly visited the family in the hospital, even during Christmas, when they could have been vacationing elsewhere.
So I guess Al Dila is right!

To Micheal D. You will have to further back than Bush to understand where the fault lies as to the housing bubble. It goes back to the Community Reinvestment Act back in the 70's. Also the fact that Andrew Cuomo, now Gov of N.Y. intimidated banks to help institute the American dream of home ownership by forcing banks to loan to those who were not "loanable" . He insisted that " red lining " be abolished as to neighborhoods that would be viable for mortgages. President Clinton in 1997 then allowed Investment bankers to get into the mortgage business in an effort to compete with foreign investment bankers who had gotten into the mortgage business by proxy in the American market. Good old Fanny Mae and Freddie then sold those mortgages as commodities as securities. The loans were then guaranteed. If you recall several Clinton appointees were dragged to court and had to give back some of the commissions they made by allowing these mortgages to be implemented. As a matter of fact it cost the tax payer $ 90 million dollars in legal fees to defend these individuals who were involved in these questionable and illegal practices. Imagine that, they robbed us and then we paid to defend them. Bush had very little to do with it. He "inherited" these problems that Carter and Clinton set in motion. "Inherited" that should be a word that you are familiar with.

Al, if you look at my reply to Patrick you will see that I said the mess is originally from legislation under the Carter administration. I didn't blame Bush for this mess, as I have said in multiple posts, this is a 30 year in the making mess. It was set in motion not just by Clinton and Carter, but Reagan and both Bushes tweaked the rules. Also all the Congressional Members over those 30 years helped as well, remember the restore America Republican House who added a few parts that helped create this mess. It was a bipartisan mess and it will take something we don't have now. Bipartisanship to clean it up, but neither party wants to admit to that. Don't blame one party for the mess made by all.

If you recall Michael. People were buying homes that they could not afford and with no proof of income or even social security numbers. Then they would re finance the mortgages based on higher property values that were inflated because of the law of supply and demand. Few houses for more buyers. They borrowed money backed by Fanny and Freddie a traditional Democratic playground. To pay the first mortgage that they could not afford in the first place. Meanwhile the top dogs at these institutions made a commission on it all.

Again you make it sound like the Democratic party was the only hand in the pot. Both parties created the mess, to blame on one party is just inaccurate. Also do not forget the fault that the banks and their boards also have in this mess. You tend to focus on one party or group which created this issue. But this is a mess with a lot of hands in the pot of creation.

Let me clear up this misconception that the seemingly young folks have expressed. If you belong to a union the pensions that you collect are from business that companies like Bain Capital kept solvent. Major investments in oil and gas and other energies keep the money flowing to people with 401Ks that most companies contribute to. They are the little guys. Even GM is owned by the members of the unions that represent the workers. If you bash business then all the money that help pensions will go away. Then what will you do. Ask government? Government does not produce anything. They can not provide unless businesses do well and pay taxes and they pay plenty. Who will buy the debt that we are incurring. You know the Treasury notes. That are as of now offering almost no interest. Sure these guys make plenty. But at the same time they can lose plenty. Lee Iaccoca went to work for Chrysler and he was trashed because his renumeration was $ 600 million in stock options. He said in an interview, I only got that if I led the company to success." If not he got nothing.. He saved Chrysler. Now think about it. Why do we pay pro athletes so much? Is it because they are handsome or personable? No it is because they produce and fill the stadiums. They produce a lot of revenue so they get a lot of money,. The same goes for the entertainment industry. You don't produce you do not get... That is the way of the world.

You know you should all try campaigning for office one day. I did in 1972. It was the most grueling experience of my life. These guys work plenty hard. Even Barach works his tail off although it is for miss guided ends. But they work. Their time is not their own. You see on TV the times that look good and when they look like they are having a good time. Those times are few and far between and are just photo ops. Men in charge of big business do the same. But they have a fiduciary responsibility that they are held accountable for.

Al,
This is something we can agree on. To put yourself through hte campaigning meatgrinder is something no one truly wants to experience. Especially in todays media/social media where everything that is done down to how you put on your pants is overanalysized.

Micheal, Truman said the Buck stops at the Presidents desk. He had a sign on his desk that said that. He also said, If you can's stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Excuses are like belly buttons, everyone has one. If Obama keeps pointing fingers at the others then nothing will get done, He took the job now he says he can't deliver what he promised. I live through a similar administration in the Carter years. At least he had the guts to take the blame. He even coined the phase the "misery index" . The fact is we need someone that can do the job. Obama can not. He has a record now and that should be the only thing we look at. "Hope is wonderful breakfast, but it makes a lousy supper".

Al,
You assume that I do not blame Obama for anything. Like I have stated multiple times I have issues with Obama. I just do not blame him for things outside of his span of control. Just like I do not blame Bush for things outside of his control. I think both Obama and Romney are liars and frauds. Does that make one better than the other, not really. Do I think one is better than the other, not really. But I'm not going to fault a man for things that were set inmotion long before he went into office and regardless of what he did were going to happen. He has done some good things and some bad things. I just say to judge him on his actual record and actual facts. Not the propaganda machine and the lies.

Blaming President Carter of any wrong doing is like blaming your grandma for the death of Jesus Christ. I cant help but finally say, listening to anyone who backs the R party speak is like listening to someone from Mars. It’s so far off base and out of sorts with anything that actually happened. its shocking. Beyond shocking... I do not mean to hurt anyones feelings but its time to just put that out there. Things that are said are that off base.

Dharma,
The legislation that put this ball in motion was under the Carter Administration. So yes, in some ways he does have some partial blame. But his initial idea while good intentioned like all things in politics got twist over 30+ years and multiple administrations. Is he solely to blame, no. But if you look at the issue that cause the bubble, it did start there. But both parties are to blame on this one, with the distortions that came from that bill.

What i dont understand is why is a Bishop of the Mormon Church doing running for president the not church and state is in there for a reason. it came about after seeing what happened in England. We do not need a Bishop in any office of any kind. Doesn’t anyone get the differences in why our doctrine states what it does? And Michael D. just because someone was in office that doesn’t mean they can stop anyone in any department from doing anything wrong. HE chose not to run again for that reason. Do you remember that? By the way I am sure we do not consider Carter a bad president do you. Also that so called Bubble was talked about back in the 1953 by Eisenhower when he openly told the American people about the set up by think tanks and to watch out. As well as how it would evolve. As did Truman in April 12, 1945 to January 20, 1953

Dharma,
At no point am I saying Carter was bad. Carter through his political carreer as a U.S. admistrator is incredibly underrated. But so is Nixson, people forget all the good both these men had due to a few things that happen in their Presidency. I understand the bubble was always a possiblity, but you can't get away from the legislation that was pasted. But as I've tried to point out as well, it was changed over the years as well due to varying admistrations and Congressional Votes. You are saying that I'm blaming him solely for something I'm not. I'm saying yes, he does deserve some, because the legislation that allowed the genius of this problem was signed by him. But the legislations that followed that tweaked the rules throughout the next 30 years, also played a role. You view what I'm saying as Carter bashing, where I'm saying this is a bipartisan issue that stretches 30 years through both parties. So both parties are to blame.

Michael D. I'll say it, "Carter was a terrible President"! Likable person, but a bad Executor. We should never hire because we like a person, but because of their ability to get a job done. I goto my cardiologist cause he is the best available, not because I like to have beer with him at my local Pub!

Let's have some body language experts weigh in on Romney so everyone will know that he is a pathological liar and will say anything to gain the confidence of voters. I don't even have to be an expert to know that whatever comes out of his mouth is a lie. It's amazing to me how so many people will follow this Pied Piper into complete oblivion. Wake up redcoats, before everything people have fought for is taken away from you. Vote Obama, at least he's honest.

You can vote for Tyranny with the marxist president that we have, or you can choose liberty and vote Republican. Make no mistake, if you vote Democrat we will be going down a path never intended by our founders. A path of complete government invasion into our lives. The path that their motto "Forward" invokes. You don't have to become a republican to vote against their socialist agenda,. You can choose to stay Democrat or Independent. But we need you in this fight to save our country and to preserve our liberties for this and other generations. Help us send this message and follow your hearts. God Bless America!

Want more proof that Obama is a Marxist? Just look at his campaign slogan: Forward!
Classic code language used by these and every Marxist since Marx and Engels. Look it up in Wikipedia. You will find it. It has its own section for "Forward " Do you think that it is just an accident or coincidence that they chose Forward? Or is it because it is ingrained in every fiber of their Marxist indoctrinated bodies? Vote for Liberty Not Tyranny!! God Bless the USA!

Neither Obama or Romney are great choices.
But, for me, Obama has much more credibility than Romney.
Politifact says that Romney lies MUCH MORE than Obama.
42 percent of Romney’s comments were lies.
28 percent of Obama’s comments were lies
(Total of all Mostly False, False and Pants on Fire rulings)
Romney appears to say whatever he thinks best suits his audience.
Cant trust him!

How could any Florida woman vote for Romney? He wants to take women back to the 1950s!
He does not support the equal pay for equal work act (Lily Ledbetter Act) for women.
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/oct/16/barack-obama/obama-mitt-romney-refused-say-whether-he-supports-/
He favors the Blunt Amendment that would deny contraception coverage for women. http://bostonglobe.com/news/politics/2012/10/17/president-obama-tries-capitalize-women-issues-after-second-debate-with-mitt-romney/BYFJOuHtDdcaNeGIWVajcN/story.html
He favors a “personhood” constitutional amendment that would define “life” as beginning at contraception, and could make abortion illegal. When asked to clarify his support, he answered, “Absolutely.”
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/11/03/democrats-target-romney-on-reproductive-rights/
He falsely said at the second debate that he sought "binders of women" profiles to find women to hire as governor, but, in reality, he was forced to use binders and signed a pledge that said he would use them.

Obama took the opposite, pro-women stance on each of these positions.
Romney would be totally wrong for women -- and for men that care about them and treat them as equals!

well at least this arguing is on the net not on the streets. however if one cant see obama is the able and best person for this job, they cant see or understand for reasond of their own. i know a lot of people who call themselves "citizens" are not behind romney. they talk about survivalist and they also seem to back different countries that are at war. i am not sure is president obama can do a great job we are seeing it each day...!! under all circumstances and he is able to not lie and that utmost important. for all of us liars or not. friends of mine who are republicans has said with tears in their eyes what happened to our party at one time we are so honest and smart what happened. I had no answer because I remember those days myself…
