McDonald's Breaks Ground for New Restaurant Near Largo Crossroads
The new fast food restaurant will be at the entrance of a proposed residential and retail area.
Construction starts soon on a new McDonald’s near US 19 and Roosevelt Boulevard. City officials and McDonald’s representatives held a groundbreaking ceremony on May 30. The fast food restaurant should be complete by August 1.
The new 3,880 square-foot restaurant is at the entrance of the former Crossroads Mall access road. The restaurant will eventually share the 1.2-acre parcel with a proposed bank.
This will be the third McDonald's in Largo for the Scott Brown family.
The family remodeled its 2300 East Bay Drive restaurant late last year. The Brown’s hope to rebuild the West Bay Drive location later this summer. The changes are part of McDonald's nationwide improvements to its restaurants.
Brown has arranged for employees from the Downtown Largo location to work at the new Roosevelt location, while the new West Bay Drive building undergoes redevelopment, city planners said.
Other future development in the Crossroads area could include a Walmart, bus transfer station and a 342-unit apartment complex. The master infrastructure permit for that 36-acre parcel will be issued by the City of Largo in about three weeks, according to Karisa Rojas-Norton, Program Planner.
"At this time, we do not know when construction may start on the Walmart or Gateway North (apartments)," Rojas-Norton wrote in an email.

I hope that there is more access than just Dodge & Roosevelt and exit off 19 & Roosevelt. Perhaps 62nd st. across from PTEC. Just sayin'.

Hi Dean. Thanks for reading. I believe the Walmart plans are in the very preliminary stages. We will be following the redevelopment in the US 19 and Roosevelt area. The city also provides planning details and project updates at http://www.largo.com/egov/docs/1328722421527.htm
