Largo Preps For National Night Out
Free events are planned for Oct. 2 at the Largo Mall Target and Ulmer Park.
Largo is gearing up to celebrate National Night Out 2012 on Oct. 2.
Citizens and neighborhood groups are invited to join the Largo Police Department, which posted details about the annual celebration on its Facebook page Wednesday.
This year's event takes place from 6-8 p.m on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at two locations:
- The Largo Mall Target, 10500 Ulmerton Rd.
- Ulmer Park, 301 W. Bay Dr.
The free event is meant to promote "awareness, support and participation in anti-crime efforts" and to bring together neighbors and local law enforcement. It's been held in cities all across the country for the past 28 years.
Largo residents are invited to take part in fingerprinting, bike registration, kid's safety stations and free document shredding by PROSHRED, Largo Police said. You can also check out a SWAT display, the mobile command vehicle and a Largo Fire Rescue Extrication Demo.
