Largo Police Department to be Assessed

The public is invited to comment on the department's "policy and procedures, management, operations and support services."

Starting April 7, a team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies will examine all aspects of the Largo Police Department's policy and procedures, management, operations and support services.

According to Chief John Carroll, of the Largo Police Department verification that the Largo Police Department meets the commission's state-of-the-art standards "is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation, a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence."

Police said, as part of the on-site assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on April 8 from 5:30 - 7 p.m.

According to a police news release, the public information session will be held at the Largo Police Department, 201 Highland Avenue.

Additionally, agency personnel and members of the community may directly contact the assessors through a dedicated phone number. The public access phone number, 727-586-7366, will be open from 1 - 5 p.m. on April 8.
