Largo Police charged James David Pierce with one count of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 16 years of age.

The 38-year-old St. Petersburg man inappropriately touched a child while in her home on August 6.

According to the arrest affidavit, Pierce touched the child while he was sitting next to her on the couch.

The girl told Pierce to stop and left to her room.

Pierce followed the girl to her room and continued to molest her, the report stated. The child ran out of the bedroom and told her mother who called police.

After Pierce was arrested and read his Miranda rights he admitted to touching the child inappropriately.

He is currently being held in the Pinellas County Jail.
