Largo Mall Parking Lot Sinkhole Patched Up
Asphalt covered what was a nearly 10-foot-wide sinkhole that opened near the movie theater at Largo Mall on Friday.
Two barricades lean against a parking lot light pole.
A large, home plate-shaped asphalt patch seen Monday covers what is left of a sinkhole that opened up over the weekend in front of the movie theater at Largo Mall.
The nearly 10-foot-wide sinkhole was discovered Friday in the Largo Mall parking lot, less than 24 hours after a sinkhole swallowed a man in his Hillsborough County bedroom.
No one was injured or fell in.

It's very common to find sinkholes in parking lots, usually the problem stems from a plugged storm drainage system or pockets underground that a car's weight will finally spot out after awhile. We see this all the time in land surveying.

One of the workers patching the pavement at Largo Mall said it wasn't a sinkhole, just a leaky pipe. Is that the final word?
