Largo Fire Chief Mike Wallace has been the subject of an internal investigation.
Largo Fire Chief has submitted his resignation in the wake of an internal investigation.
The city announced the resignation in a media release sent Monday afternoon. It takes effect April 1, officials said.
A message left with the city's human resources director, Susan Sinz, who is overseeing the probe, was not returned Monday, but she told the Times that the investigation is still ongoing and will be completed sometime later this month.
More information would be available next week, the city said.
As chief, Wallace oversees the department's 134 sworn firefighters and seven civilian employees, according to the city's website.
Wallace, 57, took over as chief in October 2007, the Times reports.
