Largo Continues to Brace for Isaac
Residents spent time with neighbors getting ready for the storm Sunday morning.
Community members picked peppers, patched doors, shopped for last-minute supplies and visited with one another Sunday morning as Tropical Storm Isaac continued its northern journey.
In the Westgate Community, Wayne Johnson picked peppers from his garden. As he harvested vegetables, Johnson said he had plenty of water, canned goods, batteries and gas for the generator. Johnson was also prepared to evacuate his mobile home if necessary, he said.
On the streets around Johnson's home, neighbors secured loose objects, fixed screen doors and chatted on Sunday morning walks around the Westgate Complex off of South Belcher Road.
At the Largo Mall, some residents loaded carts with storm supplies. While some residents maintained their usual weekend routine.
Holding his dog, Molly, Noel Leak did not break up his usual Sunday morning coffee stop. Leak said he had bought storm shutters several years ago, and he had his hurricane supplies already purchased at his Largo home.

Hi Linda, We heard back-- at this time there are no cancellations or changes in garbage collection for the City of Largo. The decision will be reassessed hour-by-by hour in the morning, depending on weather conditions.
