Find The Right Fall Hair Color For You at Salon West's Night of Color
Regular clients can register themselves and a friend for the salon's special event. You'll both get a personal color consult. If your friend books a future color appointment that night, you'll both get 50 percent off your next color service.
Fall hair colors feature deep, rich reds and golden blondes. If you're ready for a change, Salon West is hosting a color consult event called Night of Color.
The fun-filled evening will give you an opportunity to find out your best color for fall. Regular clients are invited to bring a friend, where you'll both get a consult and a chance to get 50 percent off your next color service
Patch interviewed Erica Young, marketing and management for Salon West Hair Studio & Spa. Young shared the latest fall colors and techniques, event information and general color information.
Fall Colors and Technique
Salon West will offer the latest fall colors, which include rich reds, deeper reds, such as auburn, and golden blondes.
A popular color technique is called ombré color melting, where the crown and sides are dark while the lower part of the hair is a lighter shade.
The contrast between the darker and lighter colors is up to you.
Some people like a more dramatic look, according to Young. It's a favorite among celebrities, such as Khloe Kardashian.
Others prefer a subtle version, where the color change can be seen in sunlight.
Night of Color Event
Regular guests will consult with one of their personal stylists. It's more than a consult though. The salon promises a color event, filled with a fun, drinks, hors d'oeuvres and a raffle for a gift basket.
Be sure to bring a friend. If your friend books a future color appointment at the event, then you'll both get 50 percent off your color service. It's a win for both of you.
If you're new to the salon and don't have a friend invite, you can still get the deal. Register for the event. If you book a color appointment that night for a future time, you'll get 50 percent off your color service.
Your Personal Consult
Salon West stylists start by discovering your personal style. If you're a new guest, they want to find the best hair style and color for your lifestyle
You'll have an in-depth consultation, which includes noting your face shape and skin tone, learning about your previous hair service, and understanding your likes and dislikes.
"They ask about personal style, personal interests, how often they style their hair. If a person doesn't want to style her hair every morning, they won't give them a bob which needs to be styled daily," Young said.
Your stylist will also find out your goal and what look you want to achieve with color. Do you need to color gray? Do you want more definition?
If you want to freshen up your all-over color and add definition, you can get that done in one appointment.
"Each foil is one color. Depending on the look you want, you can get highlights and lowlights and get a whole different hair color," Young said.
The foils are kept separate. For areas you want to add highlights and lightlights, the hair will be protected while adding overall color.
This technique helps protect your hair from over-processing. It's damaging to your hair to put all-over color and then add another chemical to lighten it, according to Young.
You'll also save time, as you won't have to sit through several color processes.
Rocking Your Color Maintenance
For coloring, the stylists also want to be sure your look will match how often you want to touch it up.
"Maintenance is how often the guest will need to color," Young said.
"Some people get color close to their natural shade so they can prolong time between appointments. Others like to change it all the time."
Experience Versus Price
Service price is based on the stylists' level. Salon West stylists undergo extensive education and training.
You can choose a stylist based on education, experience and skill level. If you're more concerned about price, you can choose a newer stylist.
"New talent pricing is a little less than menu prices," Young said.
That doesn't mean new stylists lack experience. New stylists work with master stylists and educators for nine months before working with salon guests.
Night of Color will be held Oct. 7, from 6-8 p.m. at all three salon locations. To register, call Salon West at (727) 588-9808, or email firstname.lastname@example.org
