Crews Extinguish Early Morning Garage Fire By Diagnostic Clinic

More than a dozen fire, rescue and police units responded to multiple 911 calls about a fire in the garage of the Diagnostic Clinic, according to a post on the Largo Fire and Rescue Facebook page.

Friday morning dozens of emergency units responded to an alarm and multiple 911 calls because of a fire in the garage of a clinic on Second Avenue Southwest. No one was injured in the fire, the Fire Department reports.

A burning pickup truck pulled into the Diagnostic Clinic  garage, which caused a "significant amount of smoke and fire" early Friday morning, according to a post on the Largo Fire Department Facebook page.

No  people were injured and there was no damage to the clinic, according to a Largo Fire Department spokesman.

Just before 7 a.m. Friday morning the Largo Fire Department responded to the fire alarm at the Diagnostic Clinic on Second Avenue Southwest.

While fire crews were on the way to the clinic, dispatch received multiple calls to 911 about a pickup truck, which had driven into the the parking garage on fire. Callers said there was a significant amount of smoke and fire, the Fire Department reports.

The call was upgraded to a full-structure fire response with additional fire and rescue units called because of a "large amount of smoke and potential evacuation hazard to the adjoining Diagnostic Clinic," the Fire Department reports. 

The pickup truck fire set off the fire suppression system at the garage. Multiple fire, rescue and police units were dispatched to the scene because of the amount of smoke. Fire officials were concerned they may need to have personnel evacuate the clinic, a Fire Department spokesman said. 

There were no injuries. There was no damage to the clinic building. There was damage to the pickup truck, a Fire Department spokesman said.
