Two highly ranked Pinellas County football teams meet on the gridiron Friday night, as the top-rated Countryside Cougars take on the second-ranked Largo Packers at Cougar Stadium.
Countryside (2-0) comes into the meeting having not lost a regular season game since October of 2009. The Cougars got by a tough opponent last week in East Lake, but should face an even tougher test this week.
The Packers (2-0) have also enjoyed a recent run of success under head coach Rick Rodriguez, making the playoffs each of the last seven years and boasting another solid team this season.
The fact that both teams hare highly ranked and expected to go deep into the playoffs, combined with the fact that the winner of the game could run the table and go undefeated, makes this a must-see game for area football fans.
Needless to say, the players are fired up, too.
“Largo is a physical team, and they feel like they can just come out and out- physical you, and that’s what we’re known for, too,” Cougar tight end AJ Sattinger said. “This is the kind of game I love.”
“It’s going to be fun,” echoed senior linebacker Tanner Wright.
The Cougars have beaten Largo three years in a row, including a 28-18 decision last year.
The game is at 7:30 at Countryside High School, 3000 SR 580 in Clearwater.

What fun these kids are having...(go Countryside!!) I wonder if they even realize they're having the time of their lives? (go Countryside!!) Both these teams have always done so well. Their competitiveness really shows up on the field. (go Countryside!!) I have never really rooted for one or the other school. (go Countryside!!) I think as a parent and bystander, I shall remain neutral and just let these kids play. So I'll just say "Good Luck Men! (go Countryside!!) Have a great game"
