Clean More Than Your Car At Classic Car Wash in Largo

The Rosery Road business boasts a bay to clean boats and RVs, plus it features a unique dog washing machine.

Car washes are an integral part of life for many locals and visitors to the Sunshine State.

The random rain storms and near constant swirl of pollen leave some people washing their vehicles two or three times per week.

But at one Largo area car wash, you can do more than just get your sedan or convertible clean after a mid day downpour; at Classic Car Wash on Rosery Road, you can wash boats, RVs, limos and even man’s best friend.

“We are one of the only places in Pinellas County that has a dog wash at the location,” Classic owner and Largo resident Scott Ferguson said. “The only other one I know of is in the Tyrone Square area.”

Ferguson, who also operates another location on Cleveland Street in Clearwater, decided to add the dog wash after a sales rep for the company approached him.

The machine, which comes from Spain, where the service is extremely popular, is basically a self-contained dog grooming station.

“It costs $7 for 14 minutes,” Ferguson explained. “You get four stages: shampoo, flea and tick remover, rinse and blow dry.

“You just put the dog up on the grate, hook it to the handle, put up the side grate and you’re ready to go.”

The machine uses heated soft water as well as all-natural solutions that won’t harm pets. Customers can bring their own towels and shampoos if they choose, although everything you need to clean your pooch is provided for you.

Ferguson installed the machine five years ago, and he says the response has been great.

“The people who use it come regularly and they all love it,” he said. “They use it on their way home from the beach, after they wash their cars … the response has been phenomenal.”

Speaking of coming from the beach, another popular feature at Classic is the outside bay.

In addition to the four enclosed bays, the fifth bay allows customers to pull up with their boats and other large vehicles and clean them with ease.

“Bay five has a marine flush and extra long hoses to make it easy to clean larger vehicles,” Ferguson said. “It’s real convenient for people with boats and motor homes.”

Ferguson said the other big draws for his car washes are the low prices, high quality products and constant maintenance he gives to the locations.

“I’m coming up on my 8th anniversary and I’ve kept the prices at $1.75 the whole time,” he said. “My vacuums are the only ones in town that still cost seventy-five cents.”

He said the grounds and all the equipment are cleaned on a regular basis, he uses expensive hog’s hair brushes instead of nylon and top quality cleaning solutions that won’t harm finishes.

“My logic is I wanted to this to be a neighborhood car wash where customers are happy with the service and they want to come back. That’s why I go the extra mile.”
