Clean More Than Your Car At Classic Car Wash in Largo

The Rosery Road business boasts a bay to clean boats and RVs, plus it features a unique dog washing machine.

Car washes are an integral part of life for many locals and visitors to the Sunshine State.

The random rain storms and near constant swirl of pollen leave some people washing their vehicles two or three times per week.

But at one Largo area car wash, you can do more than just get your sedan or convertible clean after a mid day downpour; at Classic Car Wash on Rosery Road, you can wash boats, RVs, limos and even man’s best friend.

“We are one of the only places in Pinellas County that has a dog wash at the location,” Classic owner and Largo resident Scott Ferguson said. “The only other one I know of is in the Tyrone Square area.”

Ferguson, who also operates another location on Cleveland Street in Clearwater, decided to add the dog wash after a sales rep for the company approached him.

The machine, which comes from Spain, where the service is extremely popular, is basically a self-contained dog grooming station.

“It costs $7 for 14 minutes,” Ferguson explained. “You get four stages: shampoo, flea and tick remover, rinse and blow dry.

“You just put the dog up on the grate, hook it to the handle, put up the side grate and you’re ready to go.”

The machine uses heated soft water as well as all-natural solutions that won’t harm pets. Customers can bring their own towels and shampoos if they choose, although everything you need to clean your pooch is provided for you.

Ferguson installed the machine five years ago, and he says the response has been great.

“The people who use it come regularly and they all love it,” he said. “They use it on their way home from the beach, after they wash their cars … the response has been phenomenal.”

Speaking of coming from the beach, another popular feature at Classic is the outside bay.

In addition to the four enclosed bays, the fifth bay allows customers to pull up with their boats and other large vehicles and clean them with ease.

“Bay five has a marine flush and extra long hoses to make it easy to clean larger vehicles,” Ferguson said. “It’s real convenient for people with boats and motor homes.”

Ferguson said the other big draws for his car washes are the low prices, high quality products and constant maintenance he gives to the locations.

“I’m coming up on my 8th anniversary and I’ve kept the prices at $1.75 the whole time,” he said. “My vacuums are the only ones in town that still cost seventy-five cents.”

He said the grounds and all the equipment are cleaned on a regular basis, he uses expensive hog’s hair brushes instead of nylon and top quality cleaning solutions that won’t harm finishes.

“My logic is I wanted to this to be a neighborhood car wash where customers are happy with the service and they want to come back. That’s why I go the extra mile.”

You are correct David! These photos were supplied by Mr. Ferguson, the business owner. The day I went to take the photos was overcast and dreary and Scott generously volunteered to supply ones he had. Plus he had pictures of the dog wash in use. Way to be observant!

I have used the dog wash for two years...about once a month. However, the last three times I attempted to use it there was no hot water and the flea treatment did not kick on. Although Mr. Ferguson refunded my money it was still a hassle. I had to get my 13 year-old 100 pound lab/retriever up into the unit. Then , either the machine didn't work or I had to go home and finish the job. It's an excellent machine when it works properly. My suggestion is for Mr. Ferguson to have an emergency phone number posted in case there is a problem so he can fix it before twenty people try to use it and have the same problem. All I could do is leave notes under his office door which he eventually answered (after 1 week or so). Still, I would recommend trying it. It's great when it's working properly...

Have been taking my car (and wife's) there weekly for four years!Always clean and with the soft brush I don't have to worry about scratching my car with a plastic brush. Also for past 2 years have been bringing my Doberman to the pet wash .We would not go anywhere else.An asset to Largo

I have been taking my truck there since Mr Ferguson remodeled the car wash, it is much improved. The car wash is always clean and well lit, the vaccuums work very well and the prices are great. I wash my 2 dogs there every week and the dog wash makes the whole process easy, saves my back and eliminates a mess in my house from bathing them at home.

We have been using Classic Car Wash since it opened 8 years ago. It's clean and the equipment is far superior to other car washes. I'm very picky when it comes to my car paint and have found that this car wash utilizes quality brushes and the soft water is another reason I'll continue to be a happy customer. I have also been using the dog wash since it's been installed. Great concept since it's hard to bath a 80 pound Labrodoodle at the condo. No fuss no hassle and my dog is happy.

I have washed my car many times at Classic, and have always had a good experience. I like that it is always well maintained, it is obvious that the owner cares about the customers and the community. The dog wash is a great addition, because after a very dirty day at the dog park it is nice to be able to stop in and clean the pups before letting them track dirt all over my house. I live in North Pinellas but have used the dog wash many times, and unlike the one on the Dunedin Causeway, I have found this dog wash operational each time I've stopped by to use it! :-) Keep up the great work Mr. Ferguson!!

I have used this car wash many times and have always found is clean, well maintained, and priced considerably lower than most in Pinellas County. It's pretty clear, the owner takes pride in his business as well as his community. The dog wash is PERFECT for after dog park and beach visits. Mr. Ferguson is a shining example of why we should all support our small local businesses!!
