According to Largo Police, the boy was sitting on top of the skateboard and pushing himself down a driveway in the 1100 block of Parkview Lane around 1:52 p.m. Sunday. As he entered the street he was struck and run over by a 2001 Buick sedan as it tried to stop, according to Sgt. George Edmiston, Traffic Homicide Unit supervisor.

There are many children that live and PLAY IN THE STREETS with no adult supervision by the Largo High School and the Largo Central Park. Right by the 2nd, 3rd, n 4th street areas. Is there not a LAW for this or now can Child Services maybe check this out as well..? These kids are all under the ages 10 and I just cannot understand where the parents are and why they are allowed to frolic in the streets til late after dark..? Blessings for the Families of this Boy.

This young man was on his driveway on a long board. Any one with a driver license should drive carefully when seeing any child outside! Yes it is the parents responsibility to watch their minor children but it is our responsibility as drivers to always be aware of any children or teen playing in the streets. Not every neighborhood has the luxury of having side walks. Plus this young mans driveway was on a slant. God Bless His Little Sole! Heartbroken!:(

Re Your comment; This 8 Year Old Boy was NOT a "young man" as you just said in your comment Michele M...He was not HIT on his driveway...Its is the Parents to PROVIDE Supervision to protect their child while in the streets... NO EXCUSES its is a shame and horrible for this to happen at all. In a split second the child was upon the car in the street. I am sure the driver is in mental turmoil over this accident.... YES as Horrible as this accident was... I do believe The Parents are to blame for this as they SHOULD HAVE taken the child to a Skateboard Park or had the Skateboard put up and not allowed to play with it when they KNOW their driveway is slanted and that it opens into the street... Everyday I see these kids under the ages of 10 playing UNSUPERVISED in the streets here by the Largo High School and The Largo Central Park....How many more will have to perish..?
CHILD SERVICES please have someone check upon all these kids who are in the streets everyday with NO SUPERVISION or any adult watching them ot at their sides. LARGO CENTRAL PARK is there for them to play....again I say Blessings for the Families.
