Once in a lifetime Birthday

My granddaughter, Delaney Streicher, is having a special birthday this year.  She will be 12 years old on the 12th of December.

This will make her 12-12-12-12:

  • 12        years old on the
  • 12        12th day of December
  • 12        12th month of the year
  • 12        12th year of 2000

That’s special ! ! !  This is the last repetitive cycle we will ever see in our lifetime.  The cycle won’t happen again for 89 years, starting in 2100.  There’s only 12 months within for it to occur.

What makes this birthday extra special?  Delaney hasn’t had a birthday party for several years. She had always opted for no parties or presents, requesting to have those costs be donated to Toys for Tots instead.  After figuring out the cycle above, her plans were to have a big party on her 12th birthday.

This year she’s having a party at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Largo on the 14th of December.  (it’s the only time the hall could be reserved).

She made all her own invitations and included on them: “Presents are not necessary, but Delaney wishes to have a collectionjar for donations to help furnish supplies to schools and students that lost so much during Hurricane Sandy.”

Delaney attends Clearwater Fundamental Middle School where she excels in her classes, earning straight A’s.  She’s also in the gifted class.  She is a member of Prince of Peace Church and attends regularly.  She volunteers for the program “Ruth’s Promise” helping with the elderly on days when she’s not in school.  She assists her grandma serving Holy Communion to shut-ins and joins her with visitations to nursing homes, etc.  She readily answers requests to do her part when called upon to volunteer. Delaney is very compassionate, caring and loving.

All this makes my granddaughter special and I want to wish her a very Happy Birthday!
